New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has invited comments and suggestions from the general public and stakeholders on the Draft Income-tax Rules and Forms, 2026. The draft has been placed in the public domain, and feedback can be submitted till February 22 through the official Income Tax Department portal.

According to the Income Tax Department, the proposed rules and forms have been prepared following extensive consultations to align them with the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 2025, which will come into force from April 1, 2026.

Officials said the initiative aims to promote transparency, reduce compliance burden, and ensure a participative and effective rule-making process. Stakeholders have been encouraged to carefully examine the draft and provide inputs on simplification of language, reduction of litigation, and removal of redundant or obsolete provisions.

The department has also enabled a dedicated facility on the e-filing portal to facilitate easy submission of suggestions, reinforcing the government’s intent to involve citizens and professionals in shaping tax administration reforms.
