India on Monday welcomed a major trade-related announcement by US President Donald Trump, stating that tariffs on Made in India products will be reduced to 18%, a move expected to significantly benefit Indian exporters and strengthen bilateral economic ties.
Calling the development a positive step for both nations, the Indian leadership described the conversation with President Trump as “productive and encouraging,” noting that cooperation between two of the world’s largest economies and democracies creates new opportunities for shared growth and prosperity.
The statement highlighted that closer India–US engagement not only benefits their people but also contributes to global economic stability and cooperation. Emphasis was laid on the importance of strategic partnerships in an evolving global order.
India also acknowledged President Trump’s role on the international stage, stating that his leadership efforts toward peace, stability, and prosperity are significant, and reaffirmed India’s support for initiatives aimed at global peace.
