Hyderabad:
Gandra Vinay, Sub-Inspector of Police attached to Madhapur Police Station, was caught red-handed by officials of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from a complainant.
According to ACB officials, the SI allegedly demanded the bribe for showing official favour, including providing copies of notices issued in Crime No. 2202/2025 of Madhapur Police Station and assuring the complainant that he would not be arrested in the said case in future.
The accused officer was apprehended at the time of accepting the bribe amount, and the tainted cash was recovered during the trap operation. Further investigation is underway.
The Telangana ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants. Complaints can be lodged through the toll-free number 1064, WhatsApp 9440446106, Facebook page Telangana ACB, or the official website acb.telangana.gov.in.
ACB officials assured that the identity of the complainant or victim will be kept confidential.
