Telangana Legislative Assembly Day 2: Key Amendment Bills Tabled, MGNREGS Discussed

The second day of the Seventh Session of the Third Telangana Legislative Assembly began at 10:00 AM on Friday. The House took up crucial legislative and policy-related business. Importantly, several amendment Bills related to municipal governance, GHMC, private universities, and motor vehicle taxation were introduced and passed.

Question Hour Marks the Beginning

To begin with, the Assembly commenced proceedings with Question Hour. During this session, members raised starred questions on various public issues. Meanwhile, the detailed list of questions was circulated separately to the members.

Business Advisory Committee Report Tabled

Subsequently, Leader of the House and Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy tabled the Report on the Decisions of the Business Advisory Committee. The report pertained to the committee meeting held on December 29, 2025.

Gazette Notifications Laid on the Table

Later in the day, Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Sri Ponnam Prabhakar laid two important Gazette Notifications on the Table.

These notifications relate to amendments under the Telangana Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1963 and were issued by the Transport, Roads & Buildings Department as per statutory requirements.

Key Government Bills Taken Up

The House then took up several major Government Bills. Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy moved motions for their introduction, consideration, and passage.

🏙️ Telangana Municipalities (Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2025

The Chief Minister introduced the Bill and moved it for consideration and passage. The objective is to strengthen municipal governance across Telangana.

🏢 GHMC (Amendment) Bill, 2025

The Bill aimed at amending provisions related to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was introduced and passed by the House.

🏢 GHMC (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025

Another amendment Bill concerning GHMC was also placed before the Assembly to address administrative and governance-related reforms.

🎓 Telangana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2025

Furthermore, the Chief Minister moved the Private Universities Amendment Bill, seeking reforms in the establishment and regulation of private universities in the state.

🚗 Telangana Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2025

Meanwhile, Minister Sri Ponnam Prabhakar introduced the Motor Vehicles Taxation Amendment Bill, which was later taken up for consideration and passed by the House.

Short Discussion on MGNREGS

In addition, the Assembly held a short discussion on MGNREGS. Members highlighted key issues related to rural employment, wage payments, and implementation challenges under the scheme.

Overall, the proceedings reflected the government’s strong focus on:
