Nellore: A major fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Nellore, reportedly caused by a short circuit in an air conditioner. The flames quickly spread to the maternity and pediatric wards, creating panic among patients and staff.

The incident led to a sudden power supply disruption, plunging the affected wards into darkness. Pregnant women and new mothers rushed out of the building in fear as smoke and flames spread through parts of the facility.

Fire and rescue teams responded promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could cause further damage. Hospital authorities and emergency responders ensured the safe evacuation of patients.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. Officials expressed relief over the timely response that prevented a major tragedy.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the short circuit and assess the extent of the damage.
